This article reads:
You probably haven’t seen a 1941 Ford pickup lately, so we thought you’d like to feast on this jewel by John Kuchka, which was 10 years a’building. Check page 68 to see how the Swift Red lacquer comes on, then flip back here and eyeball the little things like: chromed carriage bolts replacing spot welds in box below bed that holds ’61 Mercury taillights, door hinge pins with acorn nuts welded on then plated. What you can’t see is a stock pre-’48 Mercury rearend with spring eyes reversed, a Chevy stabilizer bar, and Chrysler shocks. Trick 15-inch chromed wheels are Chrysler which fit Ford rearend.

ABOVE LEFT – Under the hood it’s still more of the traditional rod building theme at it’s best, with late Ford swinging arm brake/clutch pedals backing a ’57 ‘Vette engine (.0360-inch over stock 283). Most innards are stock, although cam is hot Chevy parts option with solid lifters below PowerPack heads and 2/4 carbs on aluminum manifold. Transmission is early FoMoCo. ABOVE RIGHT – Inside it’s still more traditional with stock steering leading to 3-inch dropped axle and 15-ince Merc wheels. Naugahyde by Dennis Gattis works well with headliner by Manger and poplar wood door panel inserts by John hisself. BELOW – Of course, you gotta have three-line sneaks to drive this kind of iron but you end up heavy at the Forties Limited runs. Everywhere else, for that matter. Leon Girdner, who did wiring, hid narrow battery behind seat; be is of hardwood.
